A Farm to Table Wedding
(College Park, MD) La Prima Catering, a regional company that offers corporate and special events, will partner with Open Book Farm of Myersville, MD to create a unique fall wedding celebration featuring a menu of grown-to-order vegetables, herbs, and chicken. Dairy products and fruit will be sourced from local, sustainable farms.
“The bride and groom, Jessie Greger and Jeremy Solt, want their special day to reflect their strong support for wonderful food produced locally and sustainably,” said La Prima President Dave Evans. “We are thrilled to help them realize this signature experience.”
La Prima Catering already grows its own vegetables and herbs in a large sustainable garden just outside its corporate headquarters in College Park, MD and is known for its ability to cater elegant, fresh-from-the-garden events. The company harvested more than 1000 lbs. of fresh tomatoes and more than 250 lbs. of basil last summer, and continued to harvest fresh greens throughout the recent mild winter. The company will provide some of the vegetables and herbs from its own garden for this celebration.
La Prima partners with sustainable farms, including Open Book Farm, which will plant the first seedlings this May for the late September wedding menu. Farmers Mary Kathryn and Andrew Barnet are setting aside a section of field as a “wedding garden” just for the occasion to be held in Emmitsburg, MD. on September 29th.
“The key criteria for each ingredient is that it be produced in an organic, sustainable way,” says Evans. “We plan to chart the growth of each item on the menu on La Prima’s Blog, from the first seeds being planted to the chickens being processed two days before the wedding.”
With an objective of minimizing trash from the celebration, most materials used for the reception will be eco-friendly, and will be composted and recycled. La Prima regularly composts more than 1,000 pounds of food waste each week.

Everything about working with Catering by Seasons, from the planning, communication, to the execution was phenomenal!
I can’t say enough great things about our entire experience planning our daughter's Bat Mitzvah with Glynis Keith, Catering Manager, with Catering by Seasons.
Catering By Seasons exceeded my expectation. I used them for a brunch at my house after my son’s bar mitzvah. The level of professionalism along with their responsiveness made me feel at ease right away.
