Our Summer Garden
It has been a wet start to summer, and while that may dampen your mood, it also makes for a very happy garden.
At our headquarters in College Park, Maryland, the Catering by Seasons urban garden has been thriving for over 5 years now. Each year, we like to try new things, talking with our chefs, gardeners event planners to make the very best out of our harvest.
In the herb garden, we grow basil, sage, rosemary, fennel, thyme, lemongrass and more. We are harvesting these delicious flavors daily to include in our recipes.
In the past, we have grown enough basil to make garden-fresh pesto year-round!
Throughout the rest of the garden, you can find bok choy, tomatoes, squash, zucchini and more.
This year, the zucchini are huge and we can’t wait to start cooking up fresh locally grown recipes!
In addition to the veggies and herbs, this year we decided to grow farm-to-table florals. These colorful zinnias are annuals that grow great in our urban garden.
We are able to use these bright beautiful flowers at events and as garnish for some of our dishes. We love this new, unique approach to growing locally and we cannot wait to add more flowers to our urban garden!
The food was exceptional from start to finish, and many, many guests provided immediate and vocal feedback about how delicious everything was.
