Venue Spotlight – President Lincoln’s Cottage
Nestled in a green piece of Northwest D.C., President Lincoln’s Cottage is a unique historical site for all types of events. Visiting the property is like taking step back in time, with the beautiful architecture and spectacular views that will wow historians and party-goers alike.
Here at Catering by Seasons, we love events at President Lincoln’s Cottage because there are so many creative options for beautiful and picturesque events on the cottage grounds. The venue staff are mindful, offering patrons spectacular perks including free parking, and event rentals inclusive of tables and chairs.
Another thing we love is how invested they are in the environment. The museum building was the first LEED certified building of the National Trust. Grounds are landscaped with all native plants and no chemicals or pesticides are used.
With space for 150 seated and 250 standing, President Lincoln’s Cottage is perfect for corporate and private events of all sizes. Whether you are interested in a small intimate wedding, or a large bar or bat mitzvah, this is a fantastic historic site, right in the heart of the city.
Did you know that at President Lincoln’s Cottage, you can enjoy a seated dinner in the very room that Lincoln penned the Emancipation Proclamation? President Lincoln’s Cottage is arguably the most historically significant property that is available as an events venue in Washington DC.
In June of 1862, Abraham Lincoln and his family moved their possessions from the White House to a thirty-four room “cottage” on the hilltop grounds of the Soldiers’ Home in rural Washington, DC. The Lincolns lived here during his presidency – in the summer and fall of 1862, 1863, and 1864. It was during his first year in residence that he drafted and issued the Emancipation Proclamation. Lincoln’s first visit to the Cottage was a few days after his inauguration, and his last was the day before his assassination. The Cottage opened to the public for the first time in 2008. Designated by a Presidential order, it is officially the only National Monument in Washington DC.
President Lincoln’s Cottage is featured in The Washington Post, with rave reviews:
“If you want to give your guests an unparalleled taste of historic Washington, check out Lincoln’s Cottage… Your wedding could take place in the house, the visitor’s center or on the lush grounds. Guests will be impressed when they see the chair ‘Reserved for President Lincoln.’“
– The Washington Post, Spring Wedding Guide 2013

Everything about working with Catering by Season, from the planning, communication, to the execution was phenomenal!
Catering By Seasons exceeded my expectation. I used them for a brunch at my house after my son’s bar mitzvah. The level of professionalism along with their responsiveness made me feel at ease right away.
I can’t say enough great things about our entire experience planning our daughter's Bat Mitzvah with Glynis Keith, Catering Manager, with Catering by Seasons.
